I love giving gifts. Whether for a birthday, anniversary, Valentine’s Day, Christmas time, or whatever occasion, finding the perfect gift for someone is so fun.

Today, I am going to show you how you can present a gift by making your own easy origami gift bag.

This paper gift bag will take just a few minutes to fold, and it’s the perfect accompaniment to any present, especially those you have made yourself. And you know how much I love doing that too.

Handmade gifts, where you’ve put in some time, thought, and effort, are always well received, and they don’t have to break the bank either.

At Skip to My Lou, we have a range of homemade gifts and gift tags that you can consider, including a homemade apron, handkerchief scarf, crochet scarf, reusable lunch bag, and even a DIY rice heating pad

So simple, but clever!

Supplies Needed for the Paper Gift Bag

Origami Gift Bag Instructions

Remember to watch the video if you are unclear on any of the steps shown below.

Step 1: A square piece of paper won’t work for this; it needs to be a rectangular shape. You can use a paper bag, but I prefer wrapping paper because it adds a unique touch to each gift bag you make.

Step 2: Fold the paper in half to get your paper gift bag started.

Step 3: Now fold again from the top corner on the right. You can see the exact fold you need to make in the image below.

Now fold the right-hand side over, but not all the way.

Step 4: Now open the piece of paper back to its full rectangular shape.

Step 5: Now fold from the right-hand side in line with the furthest fold on the left, and do so on the left-hand side, in line with the furthest fold on the right.

Step 7: Place your hand under the top flap and make the fold as seen in the image below. If this is not clear, watch the video to see exactly how it is done.

Step 8: Make the same folds on the bottom piece of paper. Making these folds will make the right side of the paper point upward.

Step 9: Make the same folds on the left-hand side of the paper.

Step 10: Unfold the paper once again and apply glue. If you aren’t sure where to glue, make sure you watch the video to make sure. Once you have applied the glue, secure the paper along the folds.
